Phosphoenix
Phosphoenix is a spin-off of the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience established in 2019 with the aim of restoring functional vision to blind individuals through commercialisation of the Fountain Probe. The project involves includes a core team and a senior advisory board with broad expertise in medical devices, neurosurgery, and business.
Institut de la Vision
Institut de la Vision in Paris is part of the Sorbonne University, Inserm and CNRS, three of the most prestigious European academic institutions. The department involved is the “Visual brain therapy lab” by Prof. Dr. Pieter Roelfsema. This lab develops neurotechnological solutions to restore vision and its expertise includes neurophysiological measurements, electrical micro-stimulation, post-mortem histology for longevity evaluation, delivery of flexible electrodes in the brain, and behavioural testing of phosphene vision.
